2012 Program Offerings

The Language of Business Programs 商道言商

We integrate the study of language and culture and connect it to the global marketplace. Starting with our six-week foundational program we partner with you to deliver a program customized to the level of language skills desired and that best meet your needs.

Six-Week Courses 2012
Built on the principles of accelerated learning, this course uses innovative teaching techniques to help participants develop a basic language proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (“Putonghua”) and a functional framework for understanding the language and its cultural contexts. It is intended for those interested in using the language as a tool in real social or business contexts.

Course Dates and Times

Healthcare Business Chinese
May 3–June 7, 2012
Once a week on Thursdays 
6:00 pm8:00 pm

The fee for the Healthcare Business Chinese course is $280.00 or $220.00 for paid registrations received before April 10.  Please click here to download the course flyer.

*This course will be held at SUNY College of Optometry, 33 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036, instead of at SUNY Global Center.

Language of Business 101
May 2–June 6, 2012
Once a week on Wednesdays 
6:00 pm8:00 pm

The fee for the six-week Language of Business 101 course is $240.00.

Weekend Intensive Courses  2012
The course is designed to provide basic Chinese language, culture, and business understanding and skills in a 12-hour intensive weekend. All components of the weekend will be taught focusing on the implications on doing business in China.

Course Dates and Times (ONE Friday evening-Saturday day pair)

Friday, April 20, 2012 from 6:00 pm9:00 pm
Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 9:00 am5:00 pm

Please click to register for one of these weekend intensive courses.  The fee for the Weekend Intensive Course is $260.00.  There is an Early Bird fee of $190.00 for registrations received by April 13, 2012.

Study Tour to China 读书中国行

Designed to enhance the classroom curriculum, CI Business learning tours offer participants a firsthand opportunity to engage with China and its business culture. Participants will explore different kinds of businesses, meet leading executives and government officials while visiting companies, factories and cultural sites. The study tours feature language learning, cultural appreciation and an introduction to Chinese business practice and philosophy—laying the groundwork for future collaborations.

Please click to register if you are interested in going on this trip.  We have limited the number of participants to 50 people.

Our partner, the Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, will play a key role in implementing these programs. Tour itineraries will depend to a great extent on the business interests of participants.
